Fast Break Run 10 | Day 5

Pick 5 Players who will combine for 75 Points Scored and 3 Blocks to earn your win.

Overview:

We’ve reached the midpoint of WNBA Fast Break Run 10 and after three days where there was an 80% daily success rate, only 20% of the participants walked away with a win. With that said and of the 2,400+ participants, only 200 are perfect to date and have earned the mid-tier reward. There are six days remaining (including today) so many participants are still in position to earn the top-tier reward, which requires 7 wins. If you have at least one (1) win this run, you still have a chance.

Each WNBA team has either four or five games remaining on their schedule and New York secured their 30th win of the season. Based on their dominant play all season, they are the favorites to win this year’s WNBA Finals, but Minnesota aims to make some noise in the playoffs considering their hot streak of late (9-1 in their last 10). On the other end of the seeding spectrum and with Atlanta losing to Minnesota yesterday, they are now 1.5 games behind Chicago for the final playoff spot. Circle September 17th as these two teams go head-to-head and could be the difference between making or missing the playoffs. Washington could also leapfrog both as they are 2.0 games behind Chicago. Keep in mind the WNBA Playoffs ignore conferences and seed based on overall record. If the playoffs began today, we would see the following matchups:

  • (1) New York Liberty vs. (8) Chicago Sky

  • (4) Las Vegas Aces vs. (5) Seattle Storm

  • (3) Connecticut Sun vs. (6) Indiana Fever

  • (2) Minnesota Lynx vs. (7) Phoenix Mercury

With six teams in action today, there are some playoff implications based on results. If Indiana beats Las Vegas and Seattle loses against the Sparks, Indiana would be a game from the 5th seed. The question, though, is whether they would want to move up to the 5th seed. If so, they would likely play Las Vegas again followed by New York. Although not easier by any stretch of the imagination, a matchup against Connecticut and Minnesota may be the lesser of two evils. In any event, the end of the season will continue to be interesting and we’ll continue to write about it.

As we wind down the WNBA Season, the end of Run 10 is about a week away and securing another win will get you one step closer to that top pack. Let’s dive into today’s objectives.

Today’s Objective:

Fast Break Day 5 requires five (5) players who will score 75 or more Points Scored and accumulate 3 or more Blocks, which means your lineup will need an average of 15.0 PTS and 0.6 BLKs per player. As these two stats are infrequently connected, you can either utilize players who can get you a little of both or Moneyball it and aim for most points per category. End of the day, you’re going to include players in your lineup who gives you the best chance at accomplishing both objectives.

  • Little of Both: A’ja Wilson, Caitlin Clark

  • Scorers: A’ja Wilson, Chennedy Carter, Jewell Loyd, Kelsey Mitchell, Caitlin Clark, Nneka Ogwumike, Kelsey Plum, Jackie Young, Dearica Hamby

  • Shot Blockers: A’ja Wilson, Ezi Magbegor, Kamilla Cardoso, Aliyah Boston, Azura Stevens, Skylar Diggins-Smith, Aliyah Edwards, Nneka Ogwumike, Stefanie Dolson, NaLyssa Smith, Caitlin Clark, Chelsea Gray, Rickea Jackson, Emily Engstler

Upcoming Objectives:

  • Tomorrow, Field Goals Made & Three Pointers Made will be the objectives and there will be six (6) teams in action.

  • After today:

    • Twice: Field Goals Made (FGM), Three Pointers Made (3PM)

    • Once: Assists minus Turnovers (AST-TO), Steals (STL), Free Throws Made (FTM), Assists (AST), Points Scored (PTS)

Considerations:

  • There is one (1) more day where only two (2) teams are in action (Day 6)

  • There are two (2) days where ten (10) teams are in action (Day 7 & 9)

  • There are two (2) days where every team (12) will be in action (Day 8 & 10)

  • The always elusive Assists minus Turnovers is an objective on Day 7

  • Chicago, Las Vegas, Seattle & Washington have five (5) games remaining

  • Every other team has four (4) games remaining

  • Some playoff teams may opt to rest their players in the final game or two

  • Between September 13-19, there will be games every other day
