NBA Fast Break Run 2 | Day 3
Pick 5 Players who will combine for 20 Free Throws Made and 12 Three Pointers Made to earn your win.
Overview:
After a brief hiatus due to the U.S. Election, we are back with 12 games scheduled with the first tipping off at 7:00PM ET | 11:00PM UTC. As expected, Day 2 proved to be challenging and only 5% of lineups survived with a win and we are already down to 167 participants who are 2 for 2. With ten days remaining, there is still a chance for someone with a less than perfect record to make the top 200 and possibly for the top prize. Today’s objectives (free throws and three pointers) are pedestrian compared to Day 2, but there are challenging days ahead so planning ahead would be meaningful to your long-term success.
In Run 1, we had a little over 8,600 participants and we are currently sitting at 6,200 so far this run which puts us on pace to have a similar turnout. The question isn’t whether the number of participants will ever exceed 10,000 participants, but how soon. As a benchmark of success in bringing back previous collectors and (hopefully) engaging new collectors, continually setting high watermarks with each Run would be a positive for NBA Top Shot.
While you’re here, I wanted to thank you for your continued patronage. I strive to give you a reason to come back again and again, even if you’re not a paid subscriber. It’s worth nothing that subscribing to the newsletter gives you a little more intel than the standard articles. In addition to expanded articles with sortable stats, tome+ subscribers also have access to Witty’s Player Targets, which is updated weekly. If you had access to this document, you would see that there are multiple players who are top 25 in 8+ stats out of 13 common Fast Break categories, which means they offer value through their versatility. The lower their cost for their rare and/or legendary, the higher their value as they could be used on multiple days for multiple objectives without an excessive spend. For example - Devin Booker. His rare is $13 & his legendary is $245 (as of this article), but he is top 25 in PTS, AST, FGM, FGA, FTM, FTA, PIP, AST-TO. During Run 1 & 2, each team plays between 6-8 games on average so a player like Booker can be a reliable player to include in different lineups.
As it pertains to today and the remaining run, be sure to review the Considerations. For instance, knowing that Day 11 only has two teams in action (Dallas & Utah) means you’ll want to plan your lineup ahead of time to avoid being unable to field a competitive lineup. Another reason why you should plan ahead if you have not done so already. While we’re on the topic of lineups, let’s dive into your best options for today.
Today’s Objective(s):
Fast Break Day 3 requires five (5) players who will convert 20 or more Free Throws and sink 12 or more Three Pointers, which means your lineup will need an average of 4.0 FTM & 2.4 3PM per player. There are 24 teams in action today, so you have a broad range of options who find their way to the free throw line and/or can drain it from deep. There are a handful of players who are proficient in both areas also.
Little of Both: Luka Doncic, Jayson Tatum, Trae Young
Charity Stripers: Jayson Tatum, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Luka Doncic, Trae Young, Nikola Jokic, Jalen Brunson, Devin Booker
Outside Snipers: Stephen Curry, Luka Doncic, Jordan Hawkins, Trae Young, Klay Thompson, Michael Porter, Donovan Mitchell, Kyrie Irving, Fred VanVleet, De'Aaron Fox, D'Angelo Russell, Jayson Tatum
Top Five (5) in Lineups: D. Booker (70%), J. Harden (54%), J. Tatum (42%), T. Young (40%), T. Maxey (27%)
Upcoming Objective(s):
Tomorrow, 35 rebounds are needed and there are only 6 teams in action
After today, here are the remaining objectives:
2x: REB, AST, FGM
1x: PIP, OREB, BLK, STL, Fouls Drawn, 3PA, PTS, FTM, 3PM
Considerations:
Chicago & San Antonio are the only two (2) teams playing back-to-backs today & tomorrow
Least number of games remaining (4): Charlotte, Denver & Utah
Most number of games remaining (6): 13 teams
Day 11 only has two teams in action (DAL & UTA) - their last game of this run
Charlotte’s last game of this run will take place on Day 9
Boston, Milwaukee, & Portland’s last game of this run will take place on Day 10
Day 4, 6, 8, & 11 all have less than or equal to 10 teams in action
Day 3, 5, 7, 9, 10, & 12 all have 20 or more teams in action
Statistical Approach:
Top players in projected Free Throws Made & Three Pointers Made according to Rotowire, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 games, and rest of season projections, which stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. Although 10 games have not been played, all teams have played between 6-8 games so the sample size is relevant. As the season progresses, true Last 10 will be incorporated. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.
Rewards:
Daily Reward: Top 50 each day will receive a pack
Milestone Reward: Reach 3, 6, or 9 wins and each tier earns you a pack
Run Reward: Place in the top 200 overall
Rank 1: Two (2) tickets to an NBA game including airfare and hotel
Rank 2-200: Spendable credit at varying values

Tome Society’s Fast Break Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):
Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as Tome Society participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once.
Follow along with our success and failures. So far we have a win under our belt and have eight more to go for the top reward.
