NBA Fast Break Run 2 | Day 7

Pick 5 Players who will combine for 5 Blocks and 5 Steals to earn your win.

Overview:

We are officially at the midway point of this run, which has proven to be quite challenging for many. As of today, we are down to 16 of 7,300+ who are a perfect 6 of 6. There were only eight (8) teams in action, but there was a build-up of suspense as two of the top five most used players were involved in the final game (Zubac & Poeltl). Zubac lived up to expectations whereas Poeltl, Jarrett Allen, and a handful of others left a lot to be desired. If you were one of the 34% of participants who included Clint Capela, you were rewarded with his 5 OREB, 16 PIP performance. Evan Mobley was not one of the most heavily used players, but he chipped in 3 OREB & 18 PIP during a big comeback win for Cleveland who won their 11th of the season. It’ll be worth watching whether they sustain this momentum throughout the season and prove they’re contenders to come out of the East, which will likely run through Boston again. Circle your calendar for Tuesday, November 19th when these two teams meet in the NBA Cup Group stage.

At this point of Run 2, at least three (3) wins gives you an opportunity at the top pack reward, but you would need five (5) to be on pace to place in the top 200. We still have six (6) more days to go and it doesn’t get much easier from here on out - especially as players begin to see their minutes fall for the sake of load management or due to injuries. Kevin Durant, who is often utilized on various days of Fast Break, is now out for two weeks due to a calf strain. Be sure to check your lineups in case you had him queued up today, Day 9, 10, or 12. Although you should absolutely set your lineups ahead of time, this is a good reminder to monitor your lineups daily. Speaking of lineups, today should be eventful given the objectives.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 7 requires five (5) players who will accumulate 5 or more Blocks and swipe 5 or more Steals, which means your lineup will need an average of 1.0 BLK and 1.0 STL per player. There are 22 teams in action today, so your options are quite extensive, but these two objectives are infrequently correlated so you’ll need to utilize players who are highly proficient in either category. With that in mind, you’ll either moneyball the day to generate enough of either stats and/or you include players who can get you value in the BLK & STL categories.

  • Little of Both: Bam Adebayo, Anthony Davis, Jaren Jackson, Jakob Poeltl, Derrick White

  • Shot Blockers: Myles Turner, Anthony Davis, Chet Holmgren, Brook Lopez, Rudy Gobert, Jakob Poeltl

  • Thieves: De'Aaron Fox, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Suggs, OG Anunoby, Nikola Jokic, LaMelo Ball, Andre Drummond, Paul George, Jordan Poole, Toumani Camara, Bam Adebayo, Luka Doncic

  • Top Five (5) in Lineups: B. Lopez (66%), B. Adebayo (58%), M. Turner (54%), J. Jackson (45%), J. Poole (30%)

Upcoming Objective(s):

  • Tomorrow, 20 Assists & 20 Rebounds are needed and there are 10 teams in action

  • After today, here are the remaining objectives:

    • 2x: AST

    • 1x: Fouls Drawn, 3PA, PTS, FTM, 3PM, REB, FGM

Considerations:

  • Toronto is playing the tail end of a back-to-back

  • Least number of games remaining (2): Atlanta, Charlotte, Denver, & Utah

  • Most number of games remaining (4): 10 Teams

  • Day 11 only has two teams in action (DAL & UTA) - their last game of this run

  • Charlotte’s last game of this run will take place on Day 9

  • Boston, Milwaukee, & Portland’s last game of this run will take place on Day 10

  • Day 8, & 11 all have less than or equal to 10 teams in action

  • Day 9, 10, & 12 all have 20 or more teams in action

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected Blocks & Steals according to Rotowire, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 games, and rest of season projections, which stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. Although 10 games have not been played, all teams have played between 6-9 games so the sample size is relevant. As the season progresses, true Last 10 will be incorporated. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Rewards:

  • Daily Reward: Top 50 each day will receive a pack

  • Milestone Reward: Reach 3, 6, or 9 wins and each tier earns you a pack

  • Run Reward: Place in the top 200 overall

    • Rank 1: Two (2) tickets to an NBA game including airfare and hotel

    • Rank 2-200: Spendable credit at varying values

Tome Society’s Fast Break Line-Up (Commons Only Challenge):

Many Fast Break participants do not have an extensive collection of rare or legendary moments, so they are limited to single use commons. Even with a limited lineup, participants have found a way to reach the maximum rewards. Follow along as Tome Society participates in Fast Break without using any player more than once - in both our success and failures.

Day 6 ended with our 5th win and gets us one step closer to the top pack. Objective is 6 wins so we’re only one win away, but stretch goal is 9 which remains a possibility.
