WNBA Run 7 | Day 3

Pick 5 Players who will combine for 7 Three Pointers and 35 Rebounds to earn your win.

Overview:

Today is the third day of WNBA Fast Break Run 7 and there are 9 remaining game days (over the next 11 days). If you have an extensive WNBA collection with rares and legendaries, you likely have flexibility in lineup optimization. If, however, you’re like most who have mostly or all commons, you will inevitably need to sit out some days and pick your spots strategically.

Of the over 2,100 participants who have submitted at least one lineup, less than half have two wins. Even if you have zero wins, the top reward requires 7 wins so it is still within reach (if you plan accordingly and have a touch of luck based on your WNBA collection).

I created a Cheat Sheet (aka Witty’s Cheat Sheet) that outlines each team’s schedule during the run, objectives for each day, and each player’s season average for those objectives. This will help you organize the priority days and which players make the most sense to maximize your WNBA lineups. If you’re interested in a copy, send a WNBA moment to TS: Witty and send me a direct message on X or email via the link above so I can send you the file directly. For future iterations (likely beginning with Run 8), I intend to deliver a digital version which will be sortable.

Today’s Objective:

Fast Break Day 2 requires five (5) players who will drain 7 or more three pointers and accumulate 35 or more rebounds, which means your lineup will need an average of 1.4 3PM and 7.0 Rebounds per player. There are eight (8) teams in action today and your lineup options are expansive, but also limited based on the day’s objectives.

Based on the number of needed rebounds and three pointers per player, there is only one (1) player who is projected to achieve both targets. As such, you will need to mix and match players and hope they will meet or exceed their projections/season averages in order to walk away with a win. The emphasis on players who can deliver a high volume of their particular specialty.

  • Outside Shooters: Arike Ogunbowale, Kahleah Copper, Marina Mabrey, Kelsey Plum

  • Rebounders: Angel Reese, A’ja Wilson, Alyssa Thomas, Dearica Hamby, Tina Charles, Brittney Griner, Kamilla Cardosa, Ezi Magbegor, Teira McCowan

  • Little of Both: DeWanna Bonner

Given the high number of rebounds coupled with the need for three pointers, I anticipate today being one of the more difficult days. In mapping out this run, there will be a few of these days throughout this run. Keep in mind there are no WNBA games tomorrow and there will be a month-long hiatus at the end of this Fast Break run. The WNBA All-Star Game takes place on July 20th, 2024, which is followed by the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris (July 26-August 11, 2024). WNBA games kick off again on August 15th, 2024 which will likely coincide with Fast Break Run 8.

Looking Ahead:

  • Day 4 & Day 6 are precarious as there is only one game on each day.

  • Day 8 will likely be challenging as it requires the often elusive Assists minus Turnovers objective.

  • Washington & Connecticut will have the least number of remaining games after today (3) and every other team will have four (4) games remaining.

  • After today, points will be seen three times; 3PM & assists twice; points in the paint, rebounds, offensive rebounds, assists minus turnovers, steals, and field goals made will be an objective one time during this run.
