NBA Fast Break Run 2 | Day 10

Pick 5 Players who will combine for 25 Fouls Drawn and 25 Free Throws Made to earn your win.

Overview:

With three days remaining, we only have three perfect records left. These three have reached the 9-win pack reward already, but there are many others are not far behind and within reach of earning the top pack. As anticipated, Day 9 proved challenging as only 38% of participants earned a win. Of the top five players utilized, Jaylen Brown exceeded expectations and Ant met the required points threshold. On the other hand, Giannis (23 points), Karl-Anthony Towns (21 points), and Jalen Brunson (18 points) made things quite difficult for many lineups. If you were one of the few who played Tyler Herro (40 points), Steph Curry (37 points), LaMelo Ball (35 points), or Franz Wagner (32 points), they helped to mitigate the downside and likely helped a few achieve a win.

There are 11 games today and this is the first time we’ve seen “Fouls Drawn” as an objective. Since it isn’t a common stat, we kept it simple and focused on how they’ve done this season instead of locating or formulating projections. Keep in mind Fouls Drawn may not always lead to free throws, but they often do - especially if the player can draw a shooting foul. It’ll be interesting whether this objective is used again, but for the time being, we’ll stick to simple.

Goal for today - identify available players in your collection who can draw the fouls and the free throws will follow.

Today’s Objective(s):

Fast Break Day 10 requires five (5) players who will draw 25 or more Fouls & make 25 or more Free Throws, which means your lineup will need an average of 5.0 Fouls Drawn & 5.0 Free Throws Made per player. Although not all fouls called results in free throws, these two stats are well correlated. Players who have a tendency to draw the whistle will often get to the line - especially late in the game. There are 22 teams in action today, but you’ll want to prioritize the players who are able to find the favorable whistles.

  • Little of Both: Joel Embiid, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jayson Tatum, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Damian Lillard

  • Draws the Fouls: Joel Embiid, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Anthony Davis, Jaylen Brown

  • Makes the Freebies: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Devin Booker

  • Top Five (5) Players in Lineups: J. Brown (48%), A. Davis (40%), D. DeRozan (31%), SGA (29%), A. Sengun (28%)

Upcoming Objective(s):

  • Tomorrow, 15 Assists & 25 Field Goals Made are needed, but only 2 teams in action

  • After today, here are the remaining objectives: 3PA, 3PM, FGM, AST

Considerations:

  • Today is Boston, Milwaukee, & Portland’s last game of this run

  • Six (6) teams playing today were in action yesterday

  • Least number of games remaining (1): 10 Teams

  • Most number of games remaining (2): 19 Teams

  • Charlotte has no games remaining this run

  • Day 11 only has two teams in action (DAL & UTA) - their last game of this run

  • Day 11 has all have less than or equal to 10 teams in action

  • Day 12 has all have 20 or more teams in action

Statistical Approach:

Top players in projected Fouls Drawn & Field Goals Made according to Rotowire, which is available in the table(s) below. Overall rank is based on daily projections, last 10 games, and rest of season projections, which stack ranked amongst peers for each objective. Although 10 games have not been played, all teams have played between 8-11 games so the sample size is relevant. As the season progresses, true Last 10 will be incorporated. For tome+ subscribers, projected rest-of-season stats are also provided. Omission of certain players would be based on injuries at the time of data pull.

Rewards:

  • Daily Reward: Top 50 each day will receive a pack

  • Milestone Reward: Reach 3, 6, or 9 wins and each tier earns you a pack

  • Run Reward: Place in the top 200 overall

    • Rank 1: Two (2) tickets to an NBA game including airfare and hotel

    • Rank 2-200: Spendable credit at varying values

Day 9 ended with our 8th win and we only need one win in the remaining three days to earn the top pack.
