Fast Break Run 8 | Day 2

Pick 5 Players who will combine for 30 Points in the Paint and 5 Offensive Rebounds to earn your win.

Overview:

One day into WNBA Fast Break Run 8 and there are already 2,100+ participants, which is astounding considering the month-long hiatus. It will be interesting to see whether this run will crest the high watermark of 2,700+ participants for WNBA Fast Break. Looking ahead, the last day of the WNBA Season is September 19th followed by the playoffs where 8 of the 12 teams will play for the WNBA Championship, so there’s likely 3-4 more Fast Break runs remaining. A short two months thereafter, the 2024-2025 NBA Season kicks off on October 22nd.

At the conclusion of Day 1, there are over 1,100 participants who have secured the first tier pack, so they’re off to a positive start. As the second half of this run includes 4 of 5 games with 4 or less teams in action, planning ahead will likely prove to be the difference between earning the 7-win pack or not. For the 900 who walked away without a win on Day 1, they will need to win 7 of the remaining 9 days to secure the 7-win pack. With the increase of daily rewards, pursuing a Top 50 finish will also earn additional rewards along the way. The challenge will be the balance between pursuing the daily and maintaining a focus on the long-term prize.

Today’s Objective:

Fast Break Day 2 requires five (5) players who will score 30 or more Points in the Paint or 5 Offensive Rebounds, which means your lineup will need an average of 6.0 PiP and 1.0 OREB scored per player.

As these two stats are often correlated, there will be players who help you achieve both targets:

  • Little of Both: Aliyah Boston, Brittney Griner, Brionna Jones, Nneka Ogwumike, Alyssa Thomas, Ezi Magbegor, Teira McCowan

  • Inside Scorers: Kahleah Cooper, Natasha Howard, DeWanna Bonner, NaLyssa Smith

  • Offensive Boards: Satou Sabally (first game this season), Tina Charles, Cheyenne Parker-Tyus

In general, you have a wide range of options today as the thresholds are relatively low and achievable. One approach to consider is to set your next lineups first and then come back to today and see who you have remaining. Although you don’t want to set a lineup full of second tier players as that would decrease your chances of a win, you also have more flexibility today than you will later in this series.

Looking Ahead:

  • Tomorrow, Points Scored will be the objective and there will be six teams in action.

  • Remaining objectives after today:

    • Twice: Three Pointers Made (3PM), Assists (AST), Rebounds (REB), Field Goals Made (FGM), Free Throws Made (FTM)

    • Once: Blocks (BLK), Field Goals Attempted (FGA)

Considerations:

  • Day 6-10 Stretch: Four of the last five games will have 4 or less teams in action

  • Day 7: Only two teams are in action (Dallas & New York)

  • Los Angeles: They play six games over ten days, including three in a row between Day 3-5

  • One Less Day than Run 7: the top prize requires 7 wins, which mirrors Run 7, but there is one less day so your room for error is smaller

Statistical Approach:

Top 20 players in projected Points in the Paint and Offensive Rebounds according to Rotowire, which is available in the table below.

Rewards:

  • Daily Reward: Top 50 each day will receive a Quick Rip pack (previously it was top 25)

  • Milestone Reward: Reach 1, 4, or 7 wins and each tier earns you a pack

  • Run Reward: Place in the top 10 and earn a WNBA Metallic Gold LE pack
